Green Organizations

Food Solutions New England (FSNE) is a regional, collaborative network organized around a single goal: to transform the New England food system into a resilient driver of racial equity and food justice, health, sustainable farming and fishing, and thriving communities.

We serve as a convener, cultivator, and champion of our regional food system:

Convener
FSNE brings together individuals and organizations to strengthen our regional food system. Our annual New England Food Summits are one example of this effort.

Chicago Wilderness is a broad alliance of member organizations whose knowledge and expertise spans all facets of conservation. From invasive species removal and land regeneration to childhood education and volunteer action, our efforts significantly contribute to regional resiliency and economic vitality.

SIX AREAS OF FOCUS

Oak Ecosystems
Oak trees are a key source of biodiversity across the region and need our help preserve and expand their population.

The Wetlands Initiative is dedicated to restoring the wetland resources of the Midwest to improve water quality, increase wildlife habitat and biodiversity, and reduce flood damage.

Our vision is simple: Wetlands are more valuable wet than dry.

TWI is a leader in showing through its own restoration projects how wetlands long drained and degraded can be returned to high-quality wetland ecosystems again able to perform their natural “services,” such as cleaning water, providing habitat and sequestering carbon.

The Miami Blue Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association is located in southeast Florida and named after one of our rarest butterflies. We promote butterfly habitat conservation, butterfly gardening, and education about butterflies.

Our chapter is working hard to meet the challenges of the 21st century as they apply to butterfly interests. Populations of Miami blue butterflies occurred in Bahia Honda State Park, the only easy-to-reach location where they could be found until 2010. Now, populations mainly exist in Key West National Wildlife Refuge.

The Park People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to preserve, enhance, and advocate for Denver’s parks, recreation resources, open space, and urban forest.

We've raised millions of dollars to restore historical park buildings and fountains. We’ve helped to build new playgrounds and recreation facilities. Our projects can be found throughout the city.

And we offer four exciting programs that invite Denverites to support quality of life in our city by planting trees.

Sustainable Northwest believes a healthy economy, environment, and community are indivisible, and that all are strengthened by wise partnerships, policies, and investments.

We work at the radical middle of economy, environment, and community. Successfully bringing local interests together to pioneer balanced community-driven solutions in the face of change and conflict requires extraordinary patience, grit, and commitment.

Our Programs

The Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council works with school decision-makers, community volunteers and thought leaders to drive progress at the intersection of sustainability, education, public health and the built environment.

We connect volunteers and green school advocates worldwide.
Every year, tens of thousands of volunteers participate in the global Green Apple Day of Service to make our schools healthier and more sustainable. The Center also hosts the annual Green Schools Conference & Expo to connect green schools advocates nationwide.

BeCause Water is a movement for water sustainability, and our mission is to connect people to the power of water.

The focus is replacing unnecessary bottled water consumption by increasing awareness, access and engagement of local, clean drinking water. We connect people to water and one another through events, media, fundraising, and other solutions, as well as connecting businesses and consumers to innovative solutions for water sustainability.
