The Park People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to preserve, enhance, and advocate for Denver’s parks, recreation resources, open space, and urban forest.

We've raised millions of dollars to restore historical park buildings and fountains. We’ve helped to build new playgrounds and recreation facilities. Our projects can be found throughout the city.

And we offer four exciting programs that invite Denverites to support quality of life in our city by planting trees.

Strong scientific evidence has connected pesticide exposure to a host of health hazards from asthma and ADHD in children to cancer and reproductive problems. Moreover, the production and use of pesticides pollutes our water ecosystems and threatens our drinking water sources and wildlife.

That’s why it’s our mission at Midwest Pesticide Action Center to reduce the health risks and environmental impacts of pesticides by promoting safer alternatives.

The Lurie Garden in Millennium Park is an urban oasis emerging from a harmonious blend of symbolism, landscape design and ecological sensitivity.

Our plant, animal, and insect life are managed using a combination of traditional gardening knowledge and forward-thinking ecological concepts. We use management practices rooted in natural-areas ecology, specifically the strategy of adaptive co-management. Use of synthetic chemicals or similar substances within the garden to manage weeds, pest insects or diseases does not occur.

WalkDenver's goal is to make Denver the most walkable city in the country through policy advocacy, the collection of data for walking areas, demonstrations of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, and the participation of people like you.

Our “Tactical Urbanism” projects engage community members in envisioning and designing temporary demonstrations of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure mixed with art, culture, pop-up businesses and street life.
