Help Us Protect the Forest Preserves!

In recent history, the forest preserves of Cook County have encountered a great deal of abuse and neglect: Invasive brush turned thousands of acres into impassible thorn thickets, preserve land was sold, and trash littered the landscape.

Friends of the Forest Preserves was founded in 1998 by a small group of concerned citizens. We are now a force of thousands of committed volunteers and members.

We at Slow Food Denver are a diverse group of food enthusiasts with a dedication to preserving food traditions, supporting local food producers and purveyors, promoting sustainable agriculture, influencing food policy, protecting biodiversity, and educating members, school children, and the greater community about the pleasures of growing and eating healthy food.

SDUSC was created to address systemic inequity after it became increasingly clear that Southeast San Diego lacked representation in important discussions of sustainability as well as opportunities to enter the green job economy.

Today, we exist to bring together communities of concern, stakeholders and like-minded organizations through grassroots organizing to inform processes & policy, to improve the quality of life and to increase opportunities for residents of Southeast San Diego and other resilient communities.

The Gleaning Network of Texas is a nonprofit, grassroots organization that brings together growers, volunteers, and service agencies to help the food insecure with fruits and vegetables left over in Texas fields after harvest.

Yes, many growers and food producers have excess produce in their fields that is either plowed under or turned into compost. This is good, fresh produce that Texans need.

By getting gleaners into fields and orchards, we're able to pick the excess and transport thousands of pounds of produce to food assistance agencies throughout Texas.

350 Austin is a local, grassroots organization committed to the goals and strategies of 350.org: keeping carbon in the ground, building a new, more equitable low-carbon economy, and pressuring our government into limiting emissions.

350 Austin is uniquely positioned to influence the direction of climate change action because we're in the capital of Texas, a state with a long history with the fossil fuel industry.
