~ GARDENING IN HARMONY WITH NATURE ~

Since 1945, our members have shared information about successfully raising vegetables and ornamentals without using harsh fertilizers that harm soil and toxic pesticides that disturb ecological balance. We meet the second Monday of each month (except December) at the Zilker Botanical Gardens.

In addition to an educational presentation, there is a question-and-answer session and plenty of informative conversation.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The Charles River Conservancy is dedicated to the stewardship, renewal, and enhancement of the urban parklands along the Charles River.

The Conservancy promotes the active use and vitality of the parklands, increases recreational and cultural opportunities, and works to ensure the beauty and integrity of this extraordinary public resource.

OUR MISSION: To use sustainability education to alleviate poverty.

Starting in 2014, a group of young professionals applied their collective talents to enhancing the socioeconomic conditions in the inner city of Chicago. First focusing on the South Side neighborhood of Englewood, but expanding to neighborhoods on the south and west sides of the city.

2017 Eco House Projects:

ECO HOUSE ENGLEWOOD
Eco House Englewood, our flagship site, currently operates EcoWorld after-school programming as well as an income generating 3D print shop and flower farm.

Urban Oasis Project is a local food promoter and information source operating in Miami-Dade since 2008. We believe that good, clean, healthy food should be accessible to all.

We're present at farmers markets, plant gardens with low-income families, and support many local farms by bringing their produce to markets.

We also run potluck meals focusing on local food, "farmer-direct" dinners, arts events and more.

The Art of Cultural Evolution is a Florida-based non-profit organization whose mission is to share environmental and social ideas through art, film, publications, classes and workshops. The organization offers programs, exhibitions, events and projects to educate and engage the public in new ideas about cultural and environmental sustainability.

We are developing a demonstration site of sustainable possibilities in South Florida called Colony1. Colony1 brings art and environmental research together to engage a deeper understanding of current environmental changes.

At Groundwork Denver, we partner with lower-income communities to improve the local environment and promote health and well-being. We plant trees, improve parks, clean up rivers, insulate houses, promote biking, grow food, and coordinate hundreds of volunteers to help!

We build bridges between residents, businesses and governments to achieve the common goal of positive environmental change.

We support the growth and development of leaders through our Green Team youth employment and leadership program.

The San Diego Foundation Climate Initiative provides leadership and philanthropic investment to create a more sustainable path to economic growth and a higher quality of life.

The initiative aims to advance science-based, collaborative development of local policies and programs that reduce our region’s polluting emissions and minimize local risks from climate change.

The Climate Initiative works to:

The Urban Greenspaces Institute

The Urban Greenspaces Institute is the only non-profit organization in the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan region that works exclusively on urban parks, trails, and greenspace issues in the almost 3,000-square-mile Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington Intertwine region.

Our primary focus is assisting in the creation and work of The Intertwine Alliance, a coalition of nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and corporate partners collaborating to create a world-class, interconnected system of parks, trails, and natural areas.
