Green Action

The East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District (EMSWCD) is a unit of local government serving Northwest Oregon’s Multnomah County east of the Willamette River.

We work entirely on a voluntary, non-regulatory basis. All our work is geared toward keeping water clean, conserving water and keeping soil healthy.

Our 20-member staff provides a wide variety of programs and services to urban and rural residents and businesses.

The Chicago Community Trust is a charitable organization dedicated to improving our region through strategic grant-making, civic engagement and inspiring philanthropy.

The Trust awards grants for general operating support and responsive grants to address specific community needs or opportunities.

Among other initiatives, we support efforts to create an environment of clean air, water and land, an accessible and high-quality built environment of affordable housing, multi-modal transportation systems and full-service communities.

A local affiliate of Texas Interfaith Power and Light, Interfaith Environmental Network is the go-to resource for Austinites who aspire to make environmental stewardship a cornerstone of their religious commitment.

Let’s come together and start Green Teams at our places of worship to collaborate on ways to respond to climate change and other environmental challenges, spread environmental knowledge, and advocate for environmental stewardship as people of faith.

Keep Chicago Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, is a nonprofit organization that works with Chicagoland’s business community, schools, neighborhoods and government agencies to improve our environment through education, public awareness and community involvement.

With a particular emphasis on waste reduction and recycling, we offer educational workshops and coordinate presentations by expert speakers throughout Chicago.

Neat Streets Miami is a County board dedicated to creating beautiful gateways, corridors and connections. Our impact can be seen in efforts such as:

• Tree plantings
• Roadway landscape projects
• Street tree and aesthetics planning
• Metrorail station enhancements
• Metrorail station landscape enhancements

We sponsor activities, run contests, develop anti-litter campaigns, provide information and more.

Intended to encourage direct citizen action, "Sustainable Neighborhoods Denver" provides support and recognition to Denver neighborhoods where residents organize workshops, projects, and other events that improve livability while reducing ecological footprints.

Participating neighborhoods earn program credits for their efforts and may receive sustainable neighborhood designations, such as “Participating Sustainable Neighborhood” and “Outstanding Sustainable Neighborhood.”

The San Diego River Park Foundation

The San Diego River Park Foundation is dedicated to improving the health of the San Diego River and creating a better quality of life for our community through the creation of a 52 mile river-long park system. Our programs, projects, and events are designed to connect people to our historic San Diego River and empower the community to steward and celebrate it.

The Austin Regional Group of the Sierra Club is a volunteer organization of over 5,000 members that works to ensure that the Austin area remains a healthy, vibrant place to live. We offer a wide variety of activities and volunteer opportunities to support our environmental goals.

CONSERVATION: Our volunteers work to fight against global warming, air pollution, aquifer depletion, and urban sprawl. We promote clean energy, water conservation, and responsible transportation options.

Mile High Youth Corps engages young people through programs that integrate paid work experience on eco-friendly service projects with leadership development, career exploration, and education.

Our main programs:

LAND CONSERVATION

The Land Conservation Program provides opportunities for young adults ages 18-24 to participate in crew-based environmental rehabilitation and habitat restoration projects, including trail building and maintenance, fire and flood mitigation, and habitat restoration.

ENERGY & WATER CONSERVATION

EarthShare of Texas is a 501(c)3 non-profit committed to making environmental support as easy as possible by giving workers the ability to donate through payroll contribution campaigns.
