Urban GreenWorks - environmental programs for Miami's underserved communities
Urban GreenWorks (UGW) is a Miami-based not-for-profit organization and a fund of the Miami Foundation. We exist to restore the economic, physical, and social health of underserved communities.
Our focus is community food security and environmental restoration. UGW creates programs for communities plagued by poor access to fresh food, blighted and neglected open space, low urban tree cover, and an under-employed population of young adults.
Our organization also provides environmental programs and green job training to incarcerated men and women, youth remanded by court to drug rehab and at-risk high-school youth in low-income neighborhoods.
Today, through strategic partnerships, UGW has expanded its urban environment to include school gardens & curricula, food forests, aquaponic systems, and urban bee-keeping.
Other projects:
We create and restore native habitats through our "Hammocks in da Hood" and "Pollinator Pathway" projects;
We support local adopt-a-tree programs;
We offer vegan-based healthy eating programs, as we believe that eating less meat is one of the greatest things an individual can do to benefit the environment;
And we offer sustainable and replicable advisory services that improve the physical & social health of our Community.
Let us work for you!
