WalkDenver – Creating a Pedestrian-friendly Denver
WalkDenver's goal is to make Denver the most walkable city in the country through policy advocacy, the collection of data for walking areas, demonstrations of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, and the participation of people like you.
Our “Tactical Urbanism” projects engage community members in envisioning and designing temporary demonstrations of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure mixed with art, culture, pop-up businesses and street life.
"Project Shift" is our leadership program which brings people together around a shared interest in improving car-lite lifestyles. You can be a car-lite advocate by demonstrating just how easy it is to get around without getting behind the wheel.
As a part of Denver’s "Safe Routes to School Coalition," we work with parents, teachers and community members to develop recommendations for short- and long-term infrastructure improvements that will create safe paths to walk to school.
We partner with PlaceMatters on the "WALKscope" project. It's an online tool for crowdsourcing data about walkability: http://www.walkscope.org/
And we participate in coalitions such as the Denver Streets Partnership to encourage serious investments in our city's walking and biking infrastructure.
