The Greenway Foundation: Revitalizing Rivers. Reconnecting Communities.
The mission of the Greenway Foundation is to advance the interests of the South Platte River and surrounding tributaries as a unique environmental, cultural, scientific and historical amenity that uniquely links Denver’s past and future.
Since 1974, The Greenway Foundation has led efforts to:
• Reclaim the South Platte River from cesspool conditions and turn it into to a place of environmental and recreational pride
• Construct more than 100 miles of trails
• Create 20+ parks and natural areas
• Host numerous community events and annual volunteer river clean up days
GREENWAY LEADERSHIP CORPS (GLC)
GLC is a youth group for middle and high school students to learn more about the environment and become active, informed citizens.
SPREE EXCURSIONS
Spree Excursions are our educational field trips offered to ECE-5th grade classes throughout the school year.
THE RIVER NEEDS YOU
The South Platte River and its tributaries are still a default trash receptacle for our city due to a number of source challenges, including hundreds of stormwater pipes that release into these urban waterways.
Visit our site to learn more about our volunteer opportunities, donation opportunities and outdoor education opportunities for Denver Metro youths.
