Fighting for sustainability in disfavored communities: The San Diego Sustainability Coalition
SDUSC was created to address systemic inequity after it became increasingly clear that Southeast San Diego lacked representation in important discussions of sustainability as well as opportunities to enter the green job economy.
Today, we exist to bring together communities of concern, stakeholders and like-minded organizations through grassroots organizing to inform processes & policy, to improve the quality of life and to increase opportunities for residents of Southeast San Diego and other resilient communities.
Our Goals:
Encourage personal responsibility as well as civic engagement
Identify resources to make tools of sustainability accessible to ALL
Introduce sustainability and its benefits to communities of concern
Engage communities of concern in sustainable practices
Provide technical expertise as-needed
