Boston Clean Energy Coalition

The opportunity exists for Boston to pivot from its fossil-fueled past to clean energy; this means moving our building designs into the 21st century through a relentless focus on efficiency and cost-effective switches from gas and other fossil fuels to clean, electricity-based heating/cooling.

The Boston Clean Energy Coalition (BCEC) brings together organizations and allies in the shared commitment to accelerate this shift.

By providing an organizing space that fosters this process and promotes collaboration, BCEC looks to spur innovative and transformational public policy that unwaveringly focuses on a green and clean future.

Imagine Boston 2030 falls short. While we applaud the Mayor for promulgating a long-range planning process that (somewhat) addresses climate change, we believe we can do better. The plan speaks to mitigation efforts, but does not currently address how to prevent further greenhouse-gas pollution.

What we want. We strongly oppose any development of new fracked gas infrastructure to power new building in Boston. Our aspiration is for all new construction to be carbon neutral.

How do we get there? We seek to create a process that develops sound public policy. This process must foster collaboration between development, architectural, financial, academic, labor, environmental and faith-based sectors.
