PLANT. GROW. LEARN.

Our mission at TreeFolks is to empower Central Texans to build stronger and greener communities by planting and caring for trees.

We’ve already engaged thousands of volunteers to plant more than 2.5 million trees in Central Texas, and we invite you to join us in creating a healthier environment and enhancing our quality of life.

COMMUNITY BUILDING
TreeFolks engages thousands of volunteers and community groups to plant trees in public parks, preserves, and school yards.

The Multnomah County Office of Sustainability was established in 2010 to help plan, implement and coordinate the County’s environmental Sustainability Program.

Since that time, the Office of Sustainability has worked with the community and County departments to develop unique partnerships that help make Multnomah County a better place to live, work, and do business.

NeighborSpace is the only nonprofit urban land trust in Chicago that preserves and sustains gardens on behalf of community groups. We provide this support through property ownership, insurance, stewardship, education, tool lending, project planning, fundraising support, troubleshooting and more — so that community groups can focus on gardening and their community-building vision.

Miami Waterkeeper’s mission is to defend, protect, and preserve South Florida’s watershed through citizen engagement and community action rooted in sound science and research. We work to ensure swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for all.

Our scope of work is diverse, with core issues including clean water, ecosystem protection, and resiliency. Serving our population of more than 4.5 million people across Miami-Dade and Broward counties, Miami Waterkeeper’s approach combines education and outreach, scientific research, advocacy, and when necessary, legal action.

The Urban Environment League of Greater Miami is an advocacy organization that supports environmentally responsible development and smart growth. We work to protect the public waterfront, public spaces, historic and natural areas in Miami-Dade county.

We seek more recognizable and protected greenways, water access, pedestrian friendly parks, improved historic neighborhoods and landmarks. We strive for our communities to have unique neighborhoods with South Florida-sensitive architecture and quality housing, affordable to all.

At The Urban Farm at Stapleton, there is a little bit of “country” for every age and inclination. We inspire excitement for learning through practical work experience in a farm setting that fosters respect, responsibility, curiosity, caring and grit in kids and parents alike.

Where else can a kid learn firsthand about sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry or how to spin wool without leaving the comforts of Denver? How about experiencing the connection of horse and rider or the warmth of a freshly-laid egg?

As seen in the San Diego Union-Tribune, May 21, 2021:

"A new county office will focus on areas of San Diego most affected by pollution, health disparities and the effects of climate change," writes Deborah Sullivan Brennan. The office will "address high pollution areas and make sure that efforts to address climate change don’t come at the expense of poor and minority communities."

At Urban Patchwork, we work with thousands of neighbors throughout Austin to map edible trees and turn under-utilized private and public spaces into productive urban gardens and farms, educational spaces, and activity centers.

Through this effort, we strengthen and beautify our communities, expand our food system’s reach, and reduce the environmental impact of landscaping and agriculture.
