Southern Exposure builds structures and gardens in the Austin area using sustainable design principles. We offer edible landscaping, food gardens, rainwater collection, graywater harvesting, locally sourced materials, and more.

NATURAL BUILDING

We can help construct your home from minimally manufactured, locally available natural resources. Our work includes wall systems made from straw bales, adobe, cob, compressed earth blocks, and timber framing.

We can also collect rain water flowing off your roof. And from your plumbing system, we can harvest gray water for your garden.

ANIMAL & FOOD SYSTEMS

We work with homesteads and small organic farms to build systems that help grow fruits and vegetables and raise livestock.

COMMUNITY GARDENS

We design and install community gardens of all shapes and sizes. Many of these gardens include fencing, raised beds, swales and berms, drip irrigation, ceramic ollas, and rain water collection systems.

OUTDOOR LIVING

Screened in porches, covered decks, and gazebos are some of the structures we build to give folks a comfortable setting closer to nature.
