Peterson Garden Project -- Learn About (Urban) Growing of Food
Peterson Garden Project's mission is to recruit, educate and inspire everyone (seriously) to grow and cook their own food!
We change lives, families and communities in the process.
If you're looking to learn about gardening or cooking, connect with your community and put your distinct skills to good use, we are looking for you!
As a 501c3 Chicago-based nonprofit, we’re always looking for volunteers!
The kinds of things our volunteers do include:
Building new gardens
Tending Grow2Give™ plots (donation program)
Staffing events (taking tickets, setting up, cleaning up)
Teaching gardening and cooking skills
Helping to manage the gardens
Performing music at events
Our Pop-up Victory Gardens are sprouting all over Chicago. Pop-up Victory Gardens have a primary purpose to teach people in urban settings that they can grow their own food. We’re focused on long-term gardeners more than long-term gardens.
Our garden education focuses on open pollinated and heirloom seeds as means for cultural education and seed diversity.
