The Texas-based Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation, with offices in Austin and The Woodlands, is a mission‐driven grantmaking foundation that seeks innovative, sustainable solutions for human and environmental problems. The foundation works as an engine of change in both policy and practice in Texas by supporting high-impact projects at the nexus of environmental protection, social equity, and economic vibrancy.

Our Current Areas of Funding:

Launchpad Venture Group, a Boston-based angel investment group, provides funding and advice to early-stage companies.

Launchpad looks for innovative, technology-driven startup companies addressing a significant market opportunity where our investment can make a difference, focusing on technology, healthcare, life science and the green space.

We seek Boston-area companies that are young. We are willing to work with very early stage start-ups, even just a couple founders with a great idea.

The Gates Family Foundation's Natural Resources program strategically partners with public and nonprofit groups in Colorado to support land conservation, promote water resource protection and management, build improved land trust capacity, encourage stewardship at scale, and demonstrate viable models of payment for ecosystem services.

From applicants, the Foundation expects evidence of strong support for projects from their communities, and applicant organizations should incorporate green building and sustainable development practices into their projects whenever possible.

The Colorado Impact Fund (CIF) invests in Colorado companies with high-growth, scalable business models and a commitment to making their communities better in areas such as healthcare, education, and the environment. Our strategy is designed to maximize impact and financial returns.

We support sectors such as natural foods, technology, education, health care, and clean tech. Our partner companies achieve positive community impact either through the nature of their products or services or by leading with the highest environmental, social and governance standards.

From KPBS news, March 9, 2021:

The San Diego City Council has voted to establish a climate equity fund that aims to help disadvantaged communities adapt to the effects of climate change.

Low-income communities of color already suffer disproportionately from poor air quality and extreme heat, and often lack parks, safe streets and other amenities that make neighborhoods more livable in a warming planet.

The Boston Impact Initiative partners with businesses and organizations throughout our city to create systemic shifts in opportunities for communities that have been impacted by racial, social and economic inequality.

We seek to invest in organizations and initiatives—both for-profit and not-for-profit—that are committed to creating a better future for Boston’s youth and families.

BII seeks to take an integrated capital approach (combining investing, lending and giving) to putting money to work in our community.

The Shield-Ayres Foundation is a central Texas foundation that is deeply committed to the preservation of the natural world and to the conservation of the lands and waters on which all life depends. We strengthen organizations that effectively meet the basic human needs of the most vulnerable members of our community, provide access to educational opportunities and the arts, advocate for social justice, and promote land and water conservation.

The mission of The Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation is to provide funding to improve energy efficiency, advance the development and use of renewable energy resources, and protect natural areas and wildlife habitat in communities all across Illinois.

Our principal program areas are Energy and Natural Areas. To date, we have awarded over 5,000 grants providing $258 million to Illinois nonprofit organizations, schools, municipalities and other local and state government agencies.
