Support for Urban Farms from the City of San Diego
In recent years, the City of San Diego has made it easier for residents to create gardens, raise goats, chickens and bees, and save water. These efforts support the overall goal of the City’s Climate Action Plan and contribute to making San Diego a more sustainable city.
In 2012, the City adopted PDF icon Urban Agriculture Amendments to the General Plan. These amendments support expansion of urban agriculture to realize environmental, economic and public health benefits including increasing access to fresh local food, reducing energy used for food transportation and distribution and increasing opportunities for economic development and local enterprise.
