Box Greens - hydroponic growing in a convenient, portable box!
Box Greens retrofits shipping containers into portable hydroponic farms that grow non-GMO produce, using sustainable, environmentally friendly methods with no pesticides or herbicides. We drop hydroponic pods and/or outfit existing warehouse space as an indoor farm on underutilized properties throughout Miami.
Each container produces the equivalent of 1.5 acres of land. Unlike traditional farming, hydroponics use no dirt. Nutrients are injected into the plant’s root systems through water. Herbs, microgreens, lettuces, kale, and collards flourish the best in hydroponic environments.
The pilot project is slated for Overtown, just outside of Downtown Miami. This farm-in-a-box concept is built entirely inside a 40-foot shipping container and outfitted with all the tools needed for high-volume, consistent harvests.
With innovative climate control technology and growing equipment, the perfect environment is achievable 365 days a year, anywhere. A warehouse is similarly outfitted to create a thriving indoor farm within a concrete jungle proximal to the growing urban landscape of Miami.
Box Greens is dedicated to elevating citizens through job creation and tech farm skills training, community development and authentic nourishment.
