FREE Light Bulb Exchange, incandescent for fluorescent. Save money and energy!
As part of Miami-Dade County's Energy Efficiency Campaign, residents can exchange up to three incandescent bulbs for three energy-efficient compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) for FREE. Other future exchanges will also take place.
An Energy Star-qualified CFL will save about $30 over its lifetime, uses 75 percent LESS ENERGY and lasts about 10 times LONGER than an incandescent bulb.
When it's time to dispose of CFLs, make sure that you handle them properly because they contain a small amount of mercury. Miami-Dade residents can bring them to a Home Chemical Collection Center or local retailers that accept CFLs.
Miami-Dade County's Energy Efficiency Campaign seeks to create a communitywide energy education project that will engage residents for energy conservation, renewable energy, recycling and waste reduction, and serve as a catalyst for long-term behavior changes resulting in reduced energy use.
