Ekar Farm – Growing organic produce for those in need
Ekar Farm is an urban, organic, community farm dedicated to alleviating hunger through sustainable agriculture and volunteer farming. We grow and give organic produce to local food pantries while providing experiential education to the community about sustainable agriculture practices and food justice.
Inspired by Jewish values, we work to repair the world, to nurture the Earth provided to us, and to nourish our neighbors. From the platform of our urban farm, we apply the practices of ancient traditions, customs and teachings to engage our community in the solutions to many contemporary issues.
VOLUNTEER
Families and volunteer groups have made Ekar a part of their lives. Planting tomato and cucumber seeds and tending the land is a wonderful opportunity for families and groups to help others in need of healthy food while sharing old wisdom. http://ekarfarm.org/programs/days-in-the-dirt/
GARDEN PLOTS
While 75% of the food grown in the garden is donated, we also offer individual plots by May 1 of every year.
