Adult Training and Youth Program at GreenCorps Chicago

GreenCorps Chicago promotes environmental stewardship through both a youth summer work program and a green job training program for those with barriers to employment.

ADULT TRAINING

During the nine month program, trainees receive practical experience, academic enhancement, professional development, and training in a variety of environmentally-related jobs.

*Trainees receive training in horticulture, tree care, landscaping, carpentry, ecological restoration, pesticide use, green infrastructure, and more.

*Trainees receive learning opportunities and hands-on training in careers like landscaping, tree care, ecological restoration, and brownfield remediation.

*During the program, trainees are supported with wrap-around social services and a stable income.

GREENCORPS YOUTH PROGRAM

The Greencorps Chicago Youth Program (GCYP) is a summer youth employment program to expose those ages 15-19 to careers and service related to urban forestry, urban agriculture, gardening, bicycle maintenance, horticulture, resource conservation, green infrastructure, and ecological restoration.

Greencorps Chicago is a public/private partnership between the Chicago Department of Transportation and WRD Environmental.
