The Sustainable Local Food Investment Group is a network of accredited independent investors who share the mission of using private investment to re-establish a sustainable food system across the Chicago foodshed. We identify promising start-ups and early stage companies, then provide capital, expertise and a network of contacts to help drive success.

Food:Land:Opportunity is a multi-year initiative by Kinship Foundation and The Chicago Community Trust to create a resilient local food economy that protects and conserves land and other natural resources while promoting market innovation and building assets in Chicago-region communities.

While working mostly by invitation, the initiative has reserved funds to respond in real time to new opportunities that align with or support its strategies.

The initiative is focused on the supply side of producing food using sustainable practices. Defining characteristics include:

The Colorado Energy Office created the Colorado Agricultural Energy Efficiency Program to conserve resources and improve the financial standing of Colorado’s agricultural producers. The program addresses barriers that prevent producers from investing in energy efficiency by bringing existing resources and partners together and leveraging new funding with a turnkey approach.

Program participants receive a free energy audit, a preliminary renewable energy assessment, technical assistance, energy coaching, and support for financing and implementing projects.
