West Chicago Prairie Stewardship Group

*PRESERVING THE WEST CHICAGO PRAIRIE SINCE 1983*

Volunteers from the West Chicago Prairie Stewardship Group provide important support for the management of the 358-acre West Chicago Prairie.

We remove invading woody growth, eliminate alien weeds, collect seeds of native grasses and forbs, and sow collected seeds in recently restored areas and adjacent old-field areas.

We are always seeking volunteers who wish to aid in management and preservation and our website provides updated information on our workdays.

We welcome participation by school groups, church groups and Scout groups, and frequently schedule special combined workday/field trips for such groups.

To support our management efforts we also need volunteers with computer skills, graphics arts skills, skills to maintain our mechanical equipment, photography skills, and we also need politically oriented volunteers to present the need for natural areas management to public and political groups.
