Westwood Food Co-op: A Community without a Grocery Store Leads to a Community-Owned Grocery Store
The Westwood Food Cooperative (WFC) is an upcoming member owned and operated grocery store whose purpose is to increase access to fresh and healthy food while empowering community ownership in the Westwood food desert. The co-op is currently seeking members and its pilot market, Mercadito, is already open at the co-op’s future site.
MERCADITO
At our pilot shop, Mercadito, you can find produce from Re:Vision's urban farm, as well as from backyard gardeners throughout the Westwood neighborhood. Local food vendors also frequently sell delicious heritage prepared foods, such as tamales, pupusas, champerada, grilled elotes (corn) and much more.
Visit and shop at Mercadito Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9AM - 5PM and Saturdays from 10AM - 3PM at 3738 Morrison Road.
